The Munchkins

The Munckins is a collective name for a group of three lions and four tigers who were rescued from an unbelievably abusive situation in Pittsburgh, PA. They were found in three 5’ x 5’ cages in a basement almost starved to death. Arriving at the EFRC in the summer of 2000, each cat was substantially underweight and in generally poor condition. The four tigers were all blind with cataracts. Some of the cats had to undergo surgery, including surgery to remove the cataracts for the four tigers. While they have made tremendous progress since arriving at the EFRC, their growth was so stunted at an early age, due to their treatment, that they will never reach normal size, hence the group's name.
