April E-NEWS for the Exotic Feline Rescue Center

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Anyone who has visited the EFRC has more than likely interacted with one of our many dedicated volunteers. Without our dedicated volunteers we could not provide the services our BIG CATS require or provide our visitors with an enjoyable and educational tour. One of these volunteers is Diane Brandstetter. In September 2006, Diane drove from her Indianapolis home for a visit, fell in love with our mission to rescue abused, abandoned and neglected exotic felines and has been volunteering ever since.

Diane’s favorite memory at the EFRC is watching Tony, male tiger, and Oti, female tiger, being released into their brand new enclosure. Because they arrived as living skeletons with missing patches of fur and open sores, witnessing their first moments of running and rolling on their backs in fresh straw brought tears to her eyes. She is proud to play her part in rescuing and providing a forever home for the neediest cats.

The rescue center sends a heartfelt THANK YOU to Diane for everything she does for the BIG CATS!!

CAT TALES
On the public tour, you will have the opportunity to meet Sheba, female puma. Sheba’s reputation is known by many and once met she is loved by all. You will not hear a louder purrer or ever meet a sweeter puma. As our tour guides share with all visitors, every feline at the EFRC is a wild, dangerous carnivore and Sheba is no exception but Sheba happens to be the most people-friendly puma you will ever meet. She comes to the fence when called and purrs the most and the loudest for any person she meets. If you are fortunate to meet Sheba, you will leave with a smile and a warmed heart.

PETER EMILY FOUNDATION
The Peter Emily Foundation made their fifth visit to the EFRC on March 23 and 24 for BIG CAT dental work. They provided desperately needed dental care for eight of our wonderful felines.
