February 2014 ENEWS for the Exotic Feline Rescue Center
We want to send a Thank You Roar to all our attendees of the 7th Annual Saving the Big Cats Charity Auction. It was a great success! Attendees enjoyed an afternoon filled with incredible live and silent auction items, great food and drink and weather like we have never seen before. Our supporters proved once again how dedicated they are to the BIG CATS by driving through 30 mile per hour winds and blowing and drifting snow.
We would also like to thank our wonderful sponsors. Without their sponsorship, we could not create such a wonderful event: Howard and Ursula Dubin Foundation, Oliver Winery, The Palomino Ballroom, Endangered Species Chocolate, Lawson & Co. Auctioneers and Real Estate Professionals, Totally Tunes DJ Services, TUG Dreams Make Miracles Come True, Upland Brewery Co., Dr. Lynda Smirz, Stephen and Janice Smith, RE Baldauf Trucking, Paul and Valarie Wagner and Ardachu Kennels.
Last but not least we would like to thank the volunteers that gave us many hours of their time to assure the event ran smoothly. We hope to see everyone back next year.
Please join us on April 10, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 pm for a fabulous Dinner in the Penthouse at the Ivy Tech Culinary Center in Indianapolis. You will enjoy a multi-course gourmet dinner with wine served at your table. To end the evening Elvis, aka Bruce Borders, will make an appearance. Cost: $100.00 per person, $400.00 for a table of four, two tables of 8 available for $800 and the Corner VIP table for 6 available for $700.00. Please click on the link below for much more information.
Munka, female tiger cub, was named by longtime volunteer and supporter Laurie Kaufmann. Laurie chose the name Munka to honor her father. Laurie’s father received this nickname from his first granddaughter over thirty years ago when she could not pronounce Grandpa. Her pronunciation sounded like “Munka”. From that day on, Laurie’s father has been Munka. Even though her Munka is a male and our Munka is a female, we think it is a great name for the beautiful little girl.
WINTER AT THE EXOTIC FELINE RESCUE CENTER
Although this winter has been difficult our BIG CATS are thriving. The cats are spending time in their shelter boxes to keep toasty warm while the staff continues to feed, chip away ice in the water tanks, clean up poop that is frozen to the ground and everything else that is required for the day-to-day running of the center.
Winter is a great time to visit the center, especially after a snowfall. Tigers are beautiful no matter the background but to see a tiger playing in the snow is something to behold. If you have a chance, make the drive to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center to see the tigers frolicking in the snow.
Thank-you for your continued support!
