March 2014 E-news for the Exotic Feline Rescue Center
There are no words to express the appreciation we have for our recent and long-time supporters. From the child who donates his birthday money to the charitable bequests we receive, our supporters come through no matter what. Our guests travel hours to attend special events both on and off-site despite the inclement weather that sometimes occurs in Indiana. When we put out the call for special donations, our DONATE tab gets a workout. When we ask our volunteers to donate their time, in 20 degree weather, they show up with a smile on their face ready to work. The Exotic Feline Rescue Center could not continue its mission without YOU so we send out a BIG THANK YOU ROAR to the best supporters ever!
The rescue center is now in its twenty-third year of operation. With time comes out-of-date and broken down systems. Currently, our water system is in dire need of repairs and replacements. At an approximate cost of $25,000.00, we will be installing/replacing a pump, pressure tank and underground lines that will service areas including the entire public tour area along with enclosures to the west. By replacing/installing the new water system, keepers will have water at each enclosure. Currently, water has to be hauled by truck to the public tour area which takes precious time away from the cats. Further updates will detail our progress toward the goal of a new water system.

This month we are highlighting our fourth female tiger cub. Kizmin was named by William Nimmo in honor of his lovely wife, Kizmin Reeves. Mr. Nimmo and Ms. Reeves are wonderful supporters of the EFRC and have started a foundation, Tigers in America, to garner financial support for the most reputable sanctuaries in the United States. Kizmin, the tiger cub, is distinguishable by the star on her forehead. Staff reports she is sweet to her sisters and has a laid back personality. Make sure to spend some time observing her on your next visit.
Thank you for your continued support!
