OCTOBER 2014 EXOTIC FELINE RESCUE CENTER ENEWS
Please join other EFRC supporters on November 1st for our annual Pumpkin Party. The festivities begin at 12:00 pm and conclude at 2:00 pm. Cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. Enjoy watching our resident felines attempting to free the meat from their pumpkin. Because this is one of our biggest events, arrive early!
NORTH CAROLINA TRIP
EFRC staff left for North Carolina on Sept 28 to retrieve a female and male tiger. These tigers are seventeen years old and are moving to the rescue center due to the death of their owner and illness of the spouse. These tigers have had phenomenal care and we are proud that we are the chosen sanctuary to continue that care. More information about our newest residents will be forthcoming.
Sassy, yellow female leopard, arrived in June 2004 with King, yellow male leopard. Both had been living in a deplorable Ohio facility. It was discovered that Sassy was pregnant and in short time she gave birth to Uluru and JR, both yellow. Sadly, King passed away in July 2009. Sassy’s name is an indicator of her personality. She bounces from shelve to shelve in her enclosure and can be quite the sneaky leopard. When feeding Sassy staff has to be very aware of where she is at all times due to grabby claws. Sassy is located in the restricted area so can only be seen by the overnight guests during their tour of the restricted area. BOOMER BALL BASH
Please attend our 2nd Boomer Ball Bash in Bloomington, IN on October 5, 2014. You will enjoy a fun afternoon celebrating the 24th year of great work at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center. We will have live music, fabulous food by Gerrick’s BBQ, Upland Beer, wine, soft drinks, a live and silent auction and many surprises. The festivities begin at 3:00 pm at Sycamore Farm Bloomington at 1720 W. That Road, Bloomington, IN 47403. Tickets are $35.00 for advance general admission and $45.00 at the door until sold out. We look forward to seeing all of our EFRC supporters for this wonderful event. Please click on the link below for more information.
NEW ADDITIONS TO THE PUBLIC TOUR
We would like to welcome Buddy, Cash, and Tango, male tigers, to the public tour. Although these three tigers have resided at the center since May 2011, they have just recently been moved to the public tour. Buddy is the father of Tango and Cash. Because the three males were not getting along, it was necessary to separate them. Buddy and Cash live next door to each other mid-way through the tour and Tango resides in a large enclosure near the very end of the tour. Make sure to say hello when you meet them.
Visitors to the EFRC ask many questions.
QUESTION: What do you feed the cats?
ANSWER: Cow and horse are the main source of feed. We get the cows and horses from farmers in the area. We also receive road kill deer, hunters bring us deer and people bring us chickens, turkeys, donkeys and rabbits. To feed all the EFRC cats, we need up to 4,000 pounds of meat daily.
ANOTHER REASON TO VISIT THE EFRC
Beautiful fall colors are another reason to come visit the BIG CATS. Make sure to put a visit to the EFRC on your fall to-do list.
Thank you for your continued support!
