January 2016 ENEWS for the Exotic Feline Rescue Center

SAVING THE BIG CATS CHARITY AUCTION
January 30, 2016 is our 9th annual Saving the Big Cats Charity Auction. Because 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the Exotic Feline Rescue Center, the auction will be a celebration of 25 years of rescuing BIG CATS. The auction will take place at The Palms in Plainfield, IN. The Palms is located just off I-70 at the Plainfield exit. The celebration will begin at 3:00 pm and continue to 7:30 pm. Ticket price is $60.00 per person except for special pricing which will occur on Tiger Tuesdays. On January 5 and January 12, online tickets can be purchased at a reduced rate of $45 per person. Please know that one must use their credit card during the 24 hours of special pricing. We will continue to supply additional information on our website. http://www.exoticfelinerescuecenter.org/home.html

You will also be able to find information on the EFRC fundraising website www.efrcfundraising.org . At this site you will be able to print a PDF form to mail in with your payment for tickets. On that form you will find the new auction mailing address.

Also, for the first time, we will be sending out reminders/invitations to more than 500 people. However everyone/anyone can go to our website and obtain information on the event. We hope to see our wonderful supporters who have continued to support the EFRC year after year. We are also hoping to see new faces this year in our continued effort to provide medical care, dental services and large living areas for the very deserving cats. We look forward to having you join us to celebrate the Exotic Feline Rescue Center's 25th Anniversary.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE SAVING THE BIG CATS CHARITY AUCTION
If anyone is interested in being an event sponsor this year, please see the Saving the Big Cats Home site for information. Sponsorship forms will need to be printed and mailed in.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
This month we are spotlighting volunteers, Brian Worley and his wife, Danielle. Danielle first volunteered in 1996 for about a year. In 2013 Danielle brought Brian for his first visit and he was immediately hooked. He took part in the required volunteer orientation and began coming at least once a week, sometimes more. As with all volunteers, Danielle and Brian admired the work of the EFRC and wanted to help anyway they could. Their favorite aspect of volunteering was bonding with the BIG CATS. Feeling like a part of the EFRC family also had Brian coming back week after week. Brian and Danielle care about the cats but also the staff, volunteers and the EFRC mission to rescue.

Unfortunately, Brian and Danielle are no longer able to volunteer. Brian was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in April 2014. He does continue to make frequent visits to the center which lifts his spirits every time.

The EFRC wants to send the biggest thank you to Brian and Danielle for their on-going support. We are thrilled that Brian finds joy at the center and continues to come back. The center recently presented Brian with an ‘In Honor of Brian Worley’ plaque that will be placed on Kisa’s enclosure. Kisa is Brian’s favorite female lion. We hope Brian and Danielle know they are never far from our thoughts. Please click on the link to see Joe Taft presenting the ‘In Honor of Brian Worley’ plaque.
