King (male lion)

King (currently on tour) came very close to death in July 2001, when his owner in Minnesota could no longer afford to feed him and decided to have him shot and taken to a taxidermist. Fortunately, a neighbor heard of his imminent tragedy and took action, rescuing King and calling the EFRC. Upon arrival we discovered he had been fully declawed and had received little attention. At age 14 months we placed King in an enclosure with Jasmine, a female lion, not thinking he was old enough to breed. Unfortunately, we were wrong and the result was Lauren, a beautiful female lion. The three of them now live together as one happy family. Jasmine and Lauren have now been spayed.
