News from the Exotic Feline Rescue Center

Aug 1, 2012

*The 2012 drought and accompanying heat wave continue to challenge the cats and the hardworking keepers at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center. Despite the triple digit heat, our keepers have kept the water tanks full, enclosures cleaned and cats fed. All of the cats are relaxing in the shade when possible while the tigers are lounging in their water tanks.

*We would like to introduce our Head Keeper, Rebecca Rizzo. Rebecca joined the EFRC in 2004 from Eastern Illinois University with a Biology degree. Animal rescue of all kinds has been a driving force in her life. Working at the EFRC has allowed her to put that passion to work. If you see Rebecca, please say hello and thank you for her determination to save and care for these wonderful animals.

*The EFRC has received a building that will house the Assistant Director’s office, the head keeper’s office, head of construction office and a volunteer office. It also contains a conference room for education programs. It will also be used for fundraisers when weather does not allow visitors to be outside. Although the building was donated, cost of transporting the building alone exceeded $18,000.

*Please attend our second Evening Roar on August 11, 2012 at 5:30 pm. Admission is $50.00 and you must be 21-years-old to attend. Go to http://www.exoticfelinerescuecenter.org/evening_roar.html to make reservations.

*We end this enews with a quote from a recent EFRC visitor, Elijah, 8-years-old, from Indianapolis. “This rescue center is so cool.” We hope you will plan a trip to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center to experience a fun-filled hour of learning about and experiencing our BIG CATS. We are open daily 10:00 am to 5:00 PM. Admission is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under.

Please include name and address of honoree in special instructions so we know who to contact about your thoughtfulness.

Thank you for your continued support!
